The Minster of Fisheries and Agriculture Development, Hon. Elizabeth Afoley-Quaye on 10th September, 2020 had a stakeholders Engagement at the Ga south Municipal Assembly. She informed participants that the government is committed to the welfare of fishers and their dependents within the municipality and nationwide.

She stated that the close season was delayed due to the covid-19 pandemic so it has been rescheduled to next year.
She added that, the Government will keep supporting fishers in areas such as social, economic and infrastructural investments particularly in the marine sector aimed at boosting their productivity through extension and improving their living standards..

Hon. Elizabeth Afoley-Quaye implored fishers to desist from using carbide, dynamite and DDT to fish as it poses danger to the health of consumers. She also pleaded with fishers to stop fishing with light but rather follow the laid down procedures for fishing.

Also present at the meeting were the Municipal Chief Executive of the Ga South Municipal Assembly, The aspiring Member of Parliament for Obom-Domeabra constituency on the ticket of NPP, Hon. Philip Doe, Chiefs and Elders, and fishers within the Ga South Municipality.

The meeting was climaxed with a distribution of Deep Freezers, Head Pans, Clothes and other items to fishers.
