On Thursday 17th August, 2023, chiefs and elders from communities such as Ngleshie Amanfro, Bortianor, Kokrobite, Aplaku, Langma, Oshiyie, Domeabra, Ashalaja, Danchira and Obom were engaged as part of preparations towards the celebration of Homowo. World AIDS Day Celebration
As part of measures to curb the spread of HIV/AIDs which damages the immune system and interferes with the body’s ability to fight infections and diseases, World Health Organization (WHO) established World AIDS Day Celebration in 1988 with the aim of creating awareness showing support for persons living with HIV and to remember those who have died from AIDS related illness. This year’s celebration was launched on 1st November, 2022 and it sought to equalize every person that is, encourage leaders to address the inequalities which are holding back progress in ending AIDS. Two activities were held this year during the AIDS celebration.
